April

Oh April post, what happened to you? The weather is finally nice (who has time for blogging when there are picnics to go on and parks to sit in?) and suddenly it’s almost the end of May. I’ll try to remember all that we did…

We spent the first part of the month in Arizona with my family, where we got to hang out with Grammie and Pop Pop, “AuntShlyn”, U. Jared and A. Margaret. Our days were spent grilling by the pool and relaxing in the sun and our evenings going on hikes and eating great meals. Sebastien celebrated his first easter and got to meet his Great Grandma Mary, his A. Celeste and U. Greg and cousin Alana, and Greg’s parents, Carol and Shelley. He also visited the Easter bunny… and slept right through the picture. He went to his first spring training game… and slept through most of that too! He was a rockstar on both flights and people commented that they never would have known a baby was on the flight if they hadn’t seen him getting off (phew!) Back in Boston, we started our “Next Steps” class where we met some new babies and got to know some of the moms and babies from the first class even better. We had some outings with them – to PF Chang’s for drinks and apps and for a walk along the Esplanade. Sebastien had his first bottle (which he mostly hated) and made the transition from our bed to his cradle (woohoo!). He had his two month check-up, where he clocked in at 12lbs, 13oz and 23.5 inches. He also had his first immunizations, which he most certainly did not enjoy, both during the shots and for the five hours after the shots. We visited Dani, Eric, Gabi and Natalie and went out to a lobster dinner at Duffy’s with RaRa and Papa. We had a visit with Jen and Audrey Eastwood – where Sebastien towered over little peanut Audrey, even though she is a full 6 weeks older than him! Nick and Sebastien had their first solo outing – to get an oil change (boy stuff). Sebastien attended his first Boston Marathon and later in the week, Dani, Gabi, Natalie and RaRa came to visit, with trips to the park, Picco for pizza and ice cream and Faneuil Hall. We went to the Franklin Park zoo with Sean, Sara and Kelsey, followed by lunch and beers at American Craft.

We had some smiles in March, but in April, he really started smiling in reaction to our silly songs and faces. When he’s not in our arms, he digs relaxing on his boppy pillow and floor play gym and hangs out in his bouncy seat with some music from the iPod while I take a shower in the morning. So far, he’s indifferent to most music, but has shown some preference for Radiohead and Death Cab for Cutie – a boy after my own heart.
