July & August 2014
The text for this post is so overdue (we’re in October now, six weeks post-Blake’s birth) that I almost left it up with just pictures. So here is some brief chatter just to get it finished!
In July, we finished up our visit to NY and headed to RI for the 4th. It was a little rainy, but we did manage to squeeze in some fireworks. In his usual fashion, S immediately found some kids to run around with before the fireworks started, then we grabbed some space for our blanket and camped out for the show. Sebastien had CNS’s art and science camp, with his buddies Nate and Grayson, which he LOVED, then we headed back down to NY for Antonella and Mike’s wedding. The night before, we braved the Band Perry concert at Bald Hill and the kids stayed up as long as they could before conking out in the grass. (Archer would clap “yayyyy!” and request “more music” in between each song before he finally dozed off. Sebastien never fully fell asleep, but requested to use my belly as a pillow during the show.) Antonella’s wedding was beautiful and it was nice to catch up with old high school friends. Archer got a super short haircut which I did not love at first but which definitely grew on me. Sebastien spent a week at gymnastics camp (also a hit) and then we traveled down to RI for a beach weekend. The boys can’t get enough time with their cousins and they play really well together. The following weekend, after a lonnnnnng drive due to a flat tire, we were down in NY again for Ashlyn and Ben’s engagement party. Sebastien played non-stop with Olivia (their flower girl to be) and Archer ate his weight in rock candy, squeeze applesauce and cake. We can’t wait for the wedding next October!
In August, Sebastien spent a few weeks at Hill House camp and we all spent a week with Drew, Alli, Anna and Mae down in Narragansett. Anna and Sebastien loved riding boogie boards together at the beach and playing while the little kids napped each day. Archer and Mae loved playing at the water’s edge while Alli and I sang various nursery rhymes and Laurie Berkner tunes. We had a little celebration for Archer’s 2nd birthday while we were down at the beach house, complete with cupcakes, Sesame Street decorations and lots of presents. Archer was super excited and loved having everyone sing him the happy birthday song. When we got home, he got really into bike riding (or bike walking, if we’re being factual here) and we spent lots of camp mornings strolling the streets of Charlestown. Nick and Sebastien went to the Luke Bryan/Dierks Bentley concert in Foxboro and Sebastien loved it. His favorite part was the pick-up truck that lit on fire during Luke Bryan’s set. (He was also the hit of his seating area – lots of girls asked him to dance to which he replied, “No thank you.”) Archer had his 2 year check-up at the pediatrician, clocking in at 30lbs 6oz and 34.25in. At Sebastien’s pre-op appointment for his ear tube surgery, the doctor noticed that some of the fluid had cleared and decided to wait until November for a follow-up rather than going forward with the surgery. And at the end of the month as we neared her due date of August 23rd, we waited for Miss Blake to make her arrival… and waited… and waited. Notice that there are no August pictures of her arrival. Hmm.
