March & April 2017

In March, we (finally) wrapped up hockey with a couple of tournaments… and went straight into pre-season baseball. (Can you tell I’m not quite ready to be a sports mom?) Blake celebrated her half birthday with a carrot cake she picked out (and only she liked). Sebastien started rehearsals for Seussical, the musical he is excited to be in this May. We got to see a sneak peek of baby #4 with our 20 week ultrasound and everything looks great. Mid-month, we headed down to NY for Ashlyn’s baby shower and narrowly pulled off the surprise. Ashlyn came up to visit shortly afterward for Sebastien’s 1st grade “special friends” day at school – which was super nice of her considering it only lasted about an hour. Nick took the little kids to Paw Patrol Live which was very exciting for everyone. And we got to see Sebastien perform in the 1st grade play (super cute). Blake had her very first dentist appointment and did great, besides not wanting the buzzy toothbrush and very reluctantly giving up the sunglasses.

In April, I got to chaperone the first grade trip to the Paul Revere House, which was super fun despite the POURING rain. The kids were such troopers. Sebastien had his 7 year well visit, where he measured 48.5″ and weighed in at 56 lbs. We met up with the Kents for ice cream while they were in Boston – and the kids played so well together! We celebrated Easter with the usual Charlestown egg hunt and headed down to visit Ra and Papa on Easter Sunday. The following week, we took a little trip to Philadelphia and got to see lots of historical sites like the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and the National Mint plus went to the Please Touch Museum, took a carriage ride and ate cheesesteaks and plenty of ice cream. We did SO much walking – I was very impressed the kids could keep up because even I was exhausted! The end of the month was baseball opening day. Archer and Sebastien are on the same team this year – which will probably be the first and last time that works out!

Latest quotes:

Blake: We don’t eat ducks. That would hurt your teeth.

Mom: How did you sleep? Blake: Well, first you close your eyes and go into your bed, then you…

Blake: (walks in with her lion and screams BOO!) I was a ghost and sneaked you!

Archer: (to a friend at school) Last night, I think you were in my dream. Were you in my dream or no?

January & February 2017

In January, the kids headed back to school after the break and we said goodbye to Grammie, who had stayed to visit through the first couple of weeks. The boys took a couple of ski lessons at Blue Hills and Sebastien really mastered the bunny slope and started coming down the real ski hills! Sebastien got to skate with his hockey team at Fenway, which was a very cool experience. He also celebrated his 7th birthday with an ice skating party at the N. End rink.

February brought our annual trip to AZ, where due to some weird weather, it was possibly colder some days there than in Boston! We visited the wild life park, went to the rodeo, pretended to be cowboys at Rawhide, hiked some volcanic sites and visited some ruins, and had lots of fun. When we got back, we finally got some snow and Sebastien and Archer built a great snowman with dad.

Sebastien: Blake, stop acting like the bus driver who made Rosa Parks go to jail.

Archer: (singing to himself) Salt and Pepper’s lonely hot dog band…

Blake: (at 12:30am) Dad, Dad! I want to talk to you! I want to talk about the planets! Do you know we live on earth?

Blake: (presents hands) Can you kiss me on the paws?
